Pertronix Ignitor 2 009 Style Performance Distributor
Pertronix Ignitor 2 009 Style Performance Distributor
SKU:D182604
Enjoy Pertronix quality with this 009 style mechanical advance distributor. It comes with all the best stuff from an 009, an 010, and an 050 and put it all into one! Best yet, it already comes complete with the Pertronix Ignitor II electronic ignition system pre-installed!
The ignitor II features a variable dwell which maintains peak energy throughout the entire RPM range, reducing misfires while improving engine performance. It develops an average of 4 times more available energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM. and double the available spark plug voltage. Adjusts spark timing at higher RPM's to comensate for the enherent electronic delay. Senses startup and develops more energy for quicker, easier starting.
This distributor requires a coil that measures 0.6 ohms across the terminals, such as our Pertronix Flamethrower II 45,000 volt coil for optimum performance. We recommend installing Pertronix spark plug wires as well, just to complete your ignition upgrade to a complete Pertronix system.
A great choice for your high performance engine requiring a quality mechanical advance ignition system.
This performance distributor WILL not work properly with "solid core" type ignition wires, which produce RFI (radio frequency interference). RFI (aka EMI... electro-magnetic interference) can interfere with newer electronic components such as radios, phones, etc. Solid core spark plug wires were commonly used on older vintage cars. We recommend checking your spark plug wire type before ordering, or installing Pertronix spark plug wires as well, to complete your ignition upgrade. If you would like to retain your solid core type wires, we recommend using only the Ignitor 1 product.
This distributor was designed for Type 1 engines, but will also work well on the Type 4. However, if spark plug wires are ordered with it, they will not fit Type 4's. Those only fit the type 1’s.
